R&R 3.01 crashing on exclude files dialog

Today i just wanted to set some files to be excluded from my monthly r&r backups. But r&r keeps crahing every time i confirm the warning message after selecting the menu for excluding files.
faulty application rrgui.exe version 3.0.27.0. faulty module comctl32.dll version 5.82.2900.2649. error 0x000070aa
anyone got the same problem? any help would be appreciate. Called Lenovo but had to send them an email cause they weren't able to solve the probem by phone.
running xp sp2 with office 2003 and all factory preload system with all updates from ms.
