disappointing T60
disappointing T60
Just got a new T60 during lenovo holiday sale. Hate to say it, but I am quite disappointed.
First the keyboard feel is much worse than my T43 with the Chiconey keyboard. It's not even as good as my 4-years old compaq laptop. The part# for the keyboard is 39T6476, I didn't find the manufacturer for this number, does anyone know?
Second it makes static noise whenever I scroll up/down the screen. It might be a small problem but it's very annoying. The lcd is 14'' SVGA+, part# 42R9420. Again I didn't find any manufacturer info. And most part numbers on the electronic receipt don't match the result on

I don't want to believe that lenovo is downgrading thinkpad, but after this experience I would not consider lenovo thinkpad as my first choice any more...

Re: disappointing T60
IBM and Lenovo have used a variety of keyboard suppliers for both the T43 and the T60; the specific keyboard preference tends to depend on the individual person. Do some searching on these forums, and you will find threads discussing keyboards and keyboard replacements.newpad wrote:Just got a new T60 during lenovo holiday sale. nxman, even if you repeat this on every single thread on these forums (which it appears that you are trying to do), it's not going to make it any more true. No matter what company or what product people discuss, someone will always be unhappy, but most people feel that the T60 is at least as well built as the T43 (at least if they have the same keyboard types!).nxman wrote:Unfortunetly Lenovo didn't maintain IBM high quality
Lots of people are complaining about the T60 being a downgrade
From the previous T4X series.

If this is about the keyboard, you can get a new keyboard that you may like better.
The sound, however, has been around on just about all laptops I have seen since the 600s; albeit in different manifestations. You can either toggle the power schemes for it, or it will go away after awhile on its own. It happened with the T4X Series Thinkpads too. These aren't tremendous problems as compared to some; so this isn't a lapse in quality.
By the way, welcome to the Thinkpad Forum.
PS: Nxman, also, don't try to repeat/spam that on threads in this forum; once was enough.

I met someone who looks a lot like you.
She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.

Re: disappointing T60
Here is a big thread on keyboards -- read all the way through and you will see (1) that the T60 has multiple keyboard types, and (2) there are instructions for you to check on your keyboard type.IBM and Lenovo have used a variety of keyboard suppliers for both the T43 and the T60; the specific keyboard preference tends to depend on the individual person. Do some searching on these forums, and you will find threads discussing keyboards and keyboard replacements.
So, without further ado ...
