Thinkpad T60 HDD In another computer

I am trying to do something but the stupid Symantic will not let me do it and because I don't have admin priviliges on my own computer, I can't get rid of the inferior virus scanner.

If I took out the HDD what would be involved in hooking it up to something else?

Would there be evidence I took out the HDD?

You would have issues because Windows XP does not allow for switching hardware like that. Each machine has a Unique Identifier (GUID) that determines the exact hardware, so even if the hardware was identical you would have issues with it.

Depending on how brave you were, you could get a Windows XP Disc and set up the recovery console which would allow you to reset account attriubtes (like admin rights)
