Hi, I have an annoying beep on my t60 whenever I accidentaly press two keys simultaneously or maybe press a key and the trackpoint simultaneously - not very nice if trying to work discretely in a quiet place...
how do I turn this off ?

Open up the Control Panel, go to System and click on the "Hardware" tab, then click on the "Device Manager" button. After that, go to View>"Show Hidden Devices..." and click. Then find the entry under "Non-Plug and Play Drivers" that says "Beep;" open up its properties window and disable the device, apply the changes.
That should get rid of the beep.

thanks for the quick reply.
I was afraid that my question would be a bit stupid and have a really simple solution but your explanation of how it's done is not at all that straightforward

No problem, it is just a software driver for the beep event, which is emitted once the system gets several key events at the same time it receives key events.

Power, too?

Does this disable the beep that comes when you unplug the power cable, too? If not, do you know how to do so? I find it an annoying and pointless sound.
Thanks

I've made the change mentioned above and it seems I don't get the keyboard related beeps anymore.
Puppet: there's a tick-box in power manager which says "beep when power state changes"
try that
