T60 vs Z61t

These are the two models I am split between.

On one hand, the Z61t has wide screen display, better speakers, SD card reader, etc, although I'm afraid of the integrated graphics.

On the other hand, the T60 has a dedicated graphics card (ATI X1400) and a great rep. Although I'm afraid of cramming 1440 pixels into such a small screen (14") and I will not get anything as large as the 15".

I do a lot of work with photo apps, including CS2, on a semi-professional basis.

Will the integrated chipset of the Z61t be enough to run CS2 and other apps, or should I stick with the T60 for its dedicated graphics.

Any advice would be welcome.

Thanks!

IMO. Get the best video you can afford. I think you'll find the 14" screen large enough. I do. :)

Too expensive and too big.

I don't know if you've seen the 15" IRL, but if you haven't it isn't really that big. I was pretty much in the same situation as you about a month ago and read a lot of reviews and stuff, and here in the north of Sweden there was no way of looking at the 14" and 15" in person to decide which one to get. After reading about the IPS screen I finally decided to get the 15" and I don't regret it. Sure, small is good, but the IPS screen is really nice and it's nice to have a relatively large screen to edit photos on etc. After all, I was pleasantly surprised that the 15" feels pretty small when carrying it around.

Also, I've never really considered a widescreen, I think 4:3 works great for photo editing. Sure, it might be nice when viewing landscape oriented pictures, but when it comes to portrait pictures it doesn't seem as good (and yeah, most of my pics are landscape oriented but I SHOULD try to take more portrait oriented ones 8) ).

According to the CNet review, it was $185 more than the Z61, and a pound lighter (and it is thinner). The $185 may not be acceptable, but surely it's not too big if you are considering a Z61?

The Z60t/61t is a smaller/lighter model than either the Z60m/61m or a widescreen T or 4:3 T60/T61 15". The Z series comprises two different computer lines.

Ah! I am learning more about the Z series!

So ... consulting the latest tabook.pdf ...

Z61t (9441)
13.1" x 9.0" x 1.05-1.22"
4-cell starting at 4.17 lb/4.57 lb
7-cell starting at 4.52 lb/4.92 lb

T60 widescreen (6369)
14.1" x 10.0" x 1.13–1.34"
up to 6.06 lb (why "up to" instead of "starting from"? CNet claimed 5.8 lbs)

My follow-up question is why did CNet compare the T60 to the Z61m instead of the Z61t?

Z61t vs. the new T60 wide screen

I was planning to buy the Z61t and now T60 comes out with a wide screen model! Can anyone point the their differences other than the video card (T60 has a better one) and that T60 is heavier? What about the make (materials), other hardwares? Any suggestion / advice would be greatly appreciated!
