Battery Charge/Discharge order -- can be changed?

I have a new T60p with a 6 cell standard battery. I bought the Ultrabay port extra battery which has roughly ½ the capacity of the 6 cell with the idea to get a total capacity of an extended battery, but w/o the “butt” sticking out.
The problem is – the charging order. Let me explain: T60p only charges one battery at the time: main one first, Ultrabay second. Discharge is in the opposite order.
From what I gather, the charging time is not linear – first 60-70% takes less time then the remaining 30%. However the way T60p operates, if you have a fully discharged machine, it will take good 2.5 -3 hrs to charge the primary to full 100% and only then it will start charging the Ultrabay. If you have less then 3 hrs of outlet time – the secondary battery never gets charged.
Another problem – it does not start discharging the primary battery until the Ultrabay battery is at 0%! This can’t be good for the LiPo battery?!
My question – can this be somehow altered/changed? My previous machines (Dell) would bounce back and forth between two batteries, charring one to about 50%, then the other, etc. Can this be done?
Thanks
