ati driver upgrade - dvi problem

Hi,
After I upgraded to the new ati driver (running thinkvantage installer) 8.293.1-060913a-036475C-Lenovo, I noticed the following symptoms.

1. Ocassional flicker of monitor conntected via advanced dock. This happens once in a few minutes.

2. Whenever, I resume from standby, the external monitor remains off. However the notebook lcd remains on showing the extended desktop. The only way to fix this is to bring up the ati display manager and re-apply the settings.

3. There are other glitches when docking and undocking. For example, if I hit undock, all usb connected devices get unmounted, however the external monitor continues to display the primary desktop. This doesn't get automatically switched over to the laptop lcd. This used to happen before the ati driver upgrade (I think).

My laptop has a ati X1400 128mb video card (T60 2613EAU).

Has somebody else faced similar problems.

I have problems with the LCD flickering when I have an external monitor attached. However, I do not have the dock and have the latest ATI Driver installed.

One other difference is that this also occurs on the laptops LCD when the external monitor is connected.

I was thinking of trying to rollback to an older one as I haven't tried the external monitor with the last driver.

most of my problems got solved by downgrading. At first i wasn't sure how to get to the previous version and then realized that the thinkvantage installer had kept both versions (the old and new) as an option.

Which bios version did you downgrade to? Which ATI Driver are you using?

I had a look and can't quite seem to find where the place to revert to the original (in my case last) version of the bios or ati driver. Which tool do I need to look at?

Thanks.

My external monitor will likely be going back in a few days for repairs so I'm hoping to get the issues fixed before then (because I will not be able to test it for a few weeks).

I didn't downgrade the bios. I went to

Programs->ThinkVantage->Software Installer

Under the ATI row, there were two options available. I chose the older one.

Hmmm - just noticed this flickering on an external CRT connected via the VGA port (no dock). The built-in LCD seems fine. The intermittent flickering only happens on the external display, at various resolutions.

I have a 1 month old T60p 2007-8JM with the FireGL V5250 video hardware.

The flickering does not appear to occur at any fixed interval. It is very fast, so I cant see if it is indeed switching to a lower resolution or not.

I have disabled all power-saving refresh rate changes - ATI's PowerPlay and Lenovo's Power Manager.

Not annoying enough yet to have the laptop serviced... hoping for a simpler DIY fix...

I am having the same problems

When I dock, my video settings are lost and I have to set it up again with the ATI catalyst software. This is happening on a number of T60p & T60's we have. They are all using ATI cards but different models. I have tried updating all the video drivers, bios, etc. but no change. I also get the flickering symptom on the external monitor as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just updated the BIOS to the latest version 79ETD4WW (2.14 ) and the problem has gone away.

The notes attached to this BIOS updated indicated it contained a fix for NEC monitors flickering when attached to the VGA port.

My ATI driver version is 8.362-070405a-046310C-Lenovo
