Hi, I have just had my t60 act pretty strange on me:

when pulling out a pcmcia/compact flash adapter the whole machine just suddenly died. No warning beeps, messages, or anything - just like the battery would have been disconnected suddenly.

I did have a CF card in the adapter and probably did not do the safe shutdown thing before pulling out the card...

has this happened to anyone else ?

Never has happened to me and I use a sandisk adapter and cards a lot, and also hardly ever use the safely remove harware feature. Does the machine still work? What brand of card reader are you using.

Never happened to my systems, but I have heard of it occuring. It usually isn't bad; but if I was using a PC card as a carrier card for a removable data storage unit, I would make sure to at least try and stop the device before pulling it. Windows may have encountered a glitch for the power management of the device and shut down as a protective measure. I don't know exactly as I haven't looked too deep into how Windows handles the power management for such devices, but that has a good chance of being the case.

Does everything check out upon next boot?

the card reader is old, made by Apacer.

everything seems fine after rebooting.

I don't know how much card readers are in Finland but in the US they're down to about $15 and less, maybe pick up another one and try it or *be sure to use the safely remove hardware* thing, like I never do, unless i'm using something that uses an adapter for power.
