Unable to uninstall the InstallShield application

#1 Post by Kamika007z » Tue Dec 12, 2006 2:19 pm

Hey all,

Does anyone know how to uninstall the "InstallShield" application?

I downloaded an uninstaller from here: http://consumer.installshield.com/kb.asp?id=Q111006

But that did not help at all.

Please advise.

Thank you!

Well, first off, what is the problem that it is causing that makes you want to uninstall it?

Uninstalling the Sonic RecordNow! application does not uninstall the Update Manager. Ever since WMP11, Sonic does not shut down properly, so I have now gone over to using Nero itself.

The uninstall.bat from within "C:\IBMTOOLS\apps\recnow" does not fully uninstall the update manager.

Have you tried first cleaning the registry of the invalid references to it and then uninstall it from something like CCleaner or System Mechanic?

It sounds like something is getting left over because it is either in use or is in an area that has access denied for some reason (e.g. registered dlls that RegSvr32 is using, driver *.sys files in use).
