Fingerprint reader drivers only

#1 Post by iatacs19 » Fri Dec 15, 2006 12:00 pm

Is there any way to just get the drivers for the fingerprint reader?

I wiped my T60p and reinstalled windows. I am trying to only install the drivers and none of the thinkvantage software. All the other devices have drivers available except for the Fingerprinter reader, this one insists on installing the drivers + application. which I do NOT need.

Why don't you need the software for it? Have you tried installing the software/driver set then turning off the software?

I don't want to install the application because it takes over the Windows logon process. I tried extracting the files from the MSI, but I didn't have time to really look into it. I was hoping I could just get the INF and get rid of the yellow question mark in the Device Manager.

I wondered the same thing when I swiped my T60, and yes, you can.

When you install the software, the drivers for the Fingerprint reader are placed in a folder in the same location as the software is located. I can't remember the exact location, but it was C:\Program Files\Thinkpad... .

To locate it, just go into Device Manager (after having installed the software) and check the driver details for the Biometric Fingerprint Reader...it will point you to the location.
