I know there are threads on this, but for some reason I can't find them. Which is regarded as the best keyboard, ALPS or NMB? I have a Chicony, but I spilled something that ethced a couple of the keys, so this seems like a good time to try one of the other keyboards to me.
Thanks,
Richard

ALP are probably the best keyb. I had chicony and now a NMB. They are both very similar imho. T60 NMB keyb are chinese and arent as good as T43 NMB which were produced in thailand.

From what I've read, NMBs are still regarded as the best. I love my NMB, but I have nothing to compare it to.
FWIW, NMB also made my external Dell keyboard, and it's also exceptional.

there might be a majority of opinions on which board is the best, but that's all it is - opinions. The only true test is to try it out yourself.
As for myself, I prefer my chicony over the alps keyboard on my friend's T60. I find that I can type faster on mine, and the feedback I get when I click is just right for me.
I've never tried a NMB, so I don't know what that's like.

So did you get your ALPS then? What is it like for you?

I forget which I got, but one of the two is no longer available. The one I did get I had sent to my college so I won't know until I get there on the 14th.

Ok, I have installed the ALPS keyboard.
First, let me say all of the differences are very slight. If somebody actually cared to have one over the other I would say they probably suffer from some form of neurosis.
As far as actual use and feel, there is no difference. Maybe the Alps is SLIGHTLY quieter than the Chicony, but it's very slight.
From inspecting the two keyboards side by side I can see some differences. For one, the metal backing on the Alps is slightly thicker. I do not notice this is use since neither keyboard has any flex.
The keys on the ALPS sit slightly higher than the Chicony. It's not enough to feel a difference, but I can see the difference if I put them side by side and look at them head on.
The only difference I can actually notice is the trackpoint mouse buttons on the Alps make more of a click than on the Chicony, that's it.
