I was sitting on my bed running battery power and noticed the fan came on after about 20 minutes or so from internet use. Obviously this is normal, but after a while i decided to play with the "Optimize fan control" option in power manager. When i changed the setting to maximize performance, the fan turned off. And if i switched it back to balance parameters, it came back on. Does maximize performance keep the fan off more than balance parameters? I dunno if that makes sense but wouldn't balancing the parameters keep fan sound level down more? So anyway, just wanted to know if you guys know anything about this optimize fan control thing, because maximize performance seems to keep fan off more. Let me know if you figure anything out, thanks!

Your observation is correct and, yeah, there has been some confusion about it. If you look at the registry, you will find that "Maximize Performance" knocks down the value for the fan a little while "Balance all Parameters" actually increases it thereby making the fan come on sooner.

Thats interesting....I'll have to play around with it again sometime. Sometimes if the fan was on even on maximize performance, if i just changed the scheme around then back, it would still go off. (but would come on again in like 1 min). Well thanks for the cool info!
