"Waking" T60 laptop up
"Waking" T60 laptop up
I am sure this is an easy one, but for the life of me I can not figure out what I am doing wrong. Whenever my laptop is hooked up to the power supply for an extended period of time, the screen goes black. The 3 green lights on the right top of the keyboard and the wireless indicator are lit up. I try to wake up my screen by hitting the power key and nothing happens. The only way I sometimes get it to work is to hold down the fn and spacebar, but this immediately brings the screen back in zoomed in mode. Any other combo of keys does not work except when I put the computer into hibernation mode. Is there a better way to wake up my screen? Thanks

Waking T60
When the screen wont turn back on, most people use Fn and the space bar. If that doesnt work, many of us also use Fn and F7 key. Tap them a few times quickly, and it seems to always turn the screen back on.
Re: Waking T60
hmm okay, it sounds like a design flaw then. I will try fn and f7 in addition to fn space. I was thinking about changing my power settings as the other guy said to not turn off my screen when in AC mode as that would avoid the problem. Thanks guysstephenaron wrote:When the screen wont turn back on, most people use Fn and the space bar. If that doesnt work, many of us also use Fn and F7 key. I suggest that you verify that you have the latest BIOS update. There is a chance that this will fix your problem.
Version: 79ETC7WW (2.07)

I did the BIOS update and will advise if it helps resolve my issues. Thanks.GomJabbar wrote:I suggest that you verify that you have the latest BIOS update. There is a chance that this will fix your problem.

...From an earlier thread on the same topic
Obviously this fix hasn't made it into the XP build that's preloaded yet.
Windows Update
The monitor does not turn on when you move the mouse or press any key after you configure the "Power Options" settings on a Windows XP SP2-based portable computer
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/917332/en-us
Seems to do the trick for most.

T'Pad 600e, 770x, A20p, A21p, A30p, A31p (2653-H3U), T43p (2668-Q2U) & T60p (2623-DDU)...it's an addiction.
Does anybody have the hotfix file?
I have the same problem on my T60. Fn and Fn+spacebar does not work. Other sources indicate that if you close the lid to put the laptop into stanbdy, and then re-open it, the screen will come back on. But I'd rather it just worked as designed. Does anyone have the Microsoft hotfix file mentioned in the previous post, or know how to easily get it?
TIA

Apathy is on the rise, but nobody seems to care.
The hotfix works
That appears to have fixed the problem. Thanks!
