Why two swipes to log on?

Lately, when I boot the system, I'm asked to swipe my finger or hit ctrl-alt-delete. Then I get a box asking me to select the user (there's only one choice, me). I need to click OK or press ENTER, and then I'm asked to swipe my finger again.

I don't know what I did to cause (deserve?) this, but previously all I had to do was swipe once and it would log me on. Does anyone know how to get back to this state?
