How to get rid of the ATI Catalyst(R) Control Center

#1 Post by DavidR » Fri Dec 29, 2006 10:16 pm

How can I get rid of the EXTREMELY ANNOYING ATI Catalyst(R) Control Center selection that appears as the first item when I right-click on the desktop or any folder view?

I don't know how to get rid of it, but for some reason the shortcut from the desktop right-click thing disappeared for me. I don't know what did it but I cannot get it back. I actually want to know how to get it back. But maybe it's a good thing that its gone. Sorry for posting a post that doesn't help at all, but it must be possible to get rid of it somehow because mine is gone. :D

I could be wrong, but isn't it in Windows Add or Remove Programs?

I'm not sure how having the ATI Catalyst show up in the right-click menu could ever be considered "EXTREMELY ANNOYING"...I'd hate to see what REAL annoyances do to you...lol

Anyway, a quick google search turned up the following:

Not sure I want to remove it since I don't know what functionality it adds nor where I would reinstall it from if removing it was bad for some reason not obvious to me now. I would like to configure it to not have the right-click link though.

i'm with jkozlow on this one. it's just a line on the right click menu. not the worst thing in the world.

as for the software itself, i've kept it on my system because of the ATI Powerplay feature.

Thank you! Deleting that reg key is awesome (who ever used that on the context menu anyway?)

Since you guys already have the ATI CCC already installed (which didnt come installed on my machine) are you able to alter the screen brightness / color / contrast settings through it?

If yes - is it possible to disable other options except just the ones which are used for above purpose?
