I tried creating a rescue DVD instead of CD, however there is no option to burn one. I think it does recognize the DVD and write to it, but it pops it out after writing to it. Does it mean that the rescue DVD needs to be RW instead of plain R ?

Rescue DVD instead of CD - No option found
Hello Guys,
I tried creating a rescue DVD instead of CD, however there is no option to burn one. I think it does recognize the DVD and write to it, but it pops it out after writing to it. Does it mean that the rescue DVD needs to be RW instead of plain R ?

Dunno, the first of the batch is ALWAYS withing cd spec size, it's afterwards that depends whether you get 2 dvd's or those 7 cd's (not sure about figures, I have 2 dvd's
).
It should pop out after writing to it so that you can put the next empty one in..

I agree with the RW comment, however if the system has a lot of programs installed - you may need 1 CD + 1 DVD and perhaps another CD (as in my case)GomJabbar wrote:I would not use a RW disk, as they are not so reliable. A Rescue Media disk is normally 1 CD. The Product Recovery Disc set is 1 CD + 1 DVD or ~ 7 CD's.
Also, as somenone else here had mentioned in another thread - for some reason, +R discs work better on TPs than -R Discs.
I am speaking strictly about the Product Recovery Discs that only restore the original factory contents. Whatever you have added since you have received your ThinkPad will not be on the Product Recovery Disc set. If this set now requires more than 1 CD + 1 DVD, then that is news to me.starlights wrote:I agree with the RW comment, however if the system has a lot of programs installed - you may need 1 CD + 1 DVD and perhaps another CD (as in my case)
Rescue and Recovery backups are a different animal and may span a number of DVD disks.
