My cat removed a key from T60's keyboard

#1 Post by missee » Wed Jan 03, 2007 3:46 am

Hello.
My cat removed a key from T60's keyboard. How can I put it back ?? If I send my T60 to service, it takes 1-2 weeks. Does I need something special tool? Please help.

you should be able to clip it back into place.

if not, then call Lenovo and say the key fell off and they will send you a replacement by CRU (Customer Replacable Unit)

Yes, cat is fine :D

Today I spent couple of hours to put key back, but no result. Anyway, thanks for link, GomJabbar. Finally I used Locktite glue  and I think now it's OK and works well.

Lucky it wasn't my cat.

I would still take rscosworth's advise. You'll need a spare keyboard for the next time "kitty" acts up.

It happened to me, too

Believe it or not, exactly this happened to me too. It must be something about the claws. Anyway, I pressed the key back into place, it snapped down and all is well. Give the cat a treat!

Keep the thinkpad away from the cat :-)

If the key cannot be pushed down and locked in place, what will you do to the cat? :?

Emm... I don't know about cats. I have an Irish Jack Russell at home.

Just store that thinkpad away from any animals' reach.

The kitty is too big for the key cap.

Luckily the kitty only pull up the key cap and never swallow it or else this matter will get worse.

Don't take this discussion any further down that road.
