LED notebook monitors

LED will eat more energy.

FlexView was famous for its color/LCD matrix quality, not a lamp...

This post is seriously off topic for the T60 section.

And an LED backlight will eventually use energy than a fluorescent tube, but current shipping products can be about the same efficiency.

I'd rather have OLED LCD screen and skip the LED backlight...

But aren't LED LCDs also brighter? So one can lower the intensity several notches and still get enough light from it, effectively reducing power consumption.

LED LCDs are likely the future. The only ones I was able to find when I last looked (a few months ago) were from NEC, and intended for medical imaging. They were also extremely expensive.
