Screen brightness does not change automatically

Hey everyone,

I have a problem with my T60. The screen is set to be at maximum brightness when the laptop is operating on AC power, and less bright when is operating on battery power. However, if I unplug it from the AC, it goes to the lower brightness setting, but when I plug it back in, it does not go back to the full brightness of the power setting; I have to increase the brightness manually (fn + home).
I am a little peeved by this, since even my Dell 600m performs this task flawlessly.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Regards.

Robert

Go into the BIOS and set the screen to work at high brightness even on battery. Its a little power saving quirk.

Actually, the problem is not that it's not bright all the time. Rather, the problem is that when I unplug it from the AC, and then plug it back in, it does not go back to the AC-level brightness. I want it to go dimmer when it's operating on battery power, but I want ti to go back to full brightness when I plug it to the AC power.

It's most likely caused by the TV Power Manager configs.

TVPM and WPM don't use the same profiles to manage the Power settings on the system. The TVPM profiles have additional set points that cannot be modified by WPM. There is a reg key setting that prevent WPM from being able to change them.

Try using the default PM scheme from the TVPM Control Panel. Modify the screen brightness controls to your taste. Then save and apply the profile. See if it works.

If you haven't made too many changes or created and modified a bunch of profiles your might not be "corrupted". I would recommend only using the TVPM controls going forward if you want to use profiles with all of the additional functionality.
