restart hangs in "Performance Maximized" mode

#1 Post by kse13e » Sat Jan 06, 2007 10:06 am

Hello
I have a very strange problem with my T60p (200783U). 2 weeks ago the laptop starts hanging up while being rebooted. To be more precise the situation is the following:
1. if I power on my laptop which was off for some time then it always boots fine
2. if I restart the running laptop then it always hangs at WinXP start up. I have tried to boot in Safe mode and noticed that it always hangs at loading TDI.SYS file
3. If I switch off my laptop and give it several minutes of rest then it boots fine again
It looks like the problem is related to the temperature of the laptop.

Recently I have noticed that if I change the AC power setting (in the BIOS) from "Balanced" to "Performance Maximized" then this problem disappeares. Yehh!!! ... but

... now there is another problem - it is almost impossible to use the laptop in the "Performance Maximized" mode - as soon as I run any CPU hangry application the temperatures of both CPU and GPU grow very fast up to 100 degrees and even the laptop's body becomes as hot as frying pan.
Does anybody see the samething like that?
