maximizing t60p performance

38 seconds for 1M digits in super Pi mod; 1 min 14 seconds for 2M
3dMark05 is about 3510

They are worse than some typical scores posted here and on the review sites. So, what do I do to maxmize them?

I clean-installed xp pro, used thinkvantage to load the latest drivers. 2 512M ddr2, and on maximum performance ac setting.

Hmm. I don't have 3DMark05. I benched my T60p (200792U) with 3DMark03 which gave a score of 6137 3D marks (not comparable to 05 scores). Also, I ran super pi version 1.1e scoring 28 seconds for 1 million, and 1 min 13 sec for 2 million. (locking superpi to CPU1 and setting priority to realtime only helped marginally. It shaved 1 to 2 seconds off at most.)

My specs:
CD T2600 @ 2.16GHz
ATI V5200 256MB dedicated / 256MB Hypermemory (512MB Total)
2GB RAM

The CPU benchmarks match up hand-in-hand with the expected SiSandra results for the T2600 leading me to believe that the T60p is utilizing the CPU to full potential.

Just remember that these benchmarks are synthetic meaning they're best-case scenarios. You'll probably never reach these in real life.

You may want to run those tests a few more times. These tests give slightly, or sometimes very different results each time.

Ohh, a benchmark thread, I didn't want to start one, but was looking when I ordered mine, so I'll contribute:
On my T60p (as in sig line) I see:
  • Source engine stress test: ~61fps at 1400x1050 with all detail settings high, water on reflect world, and trilinear filtering (no AA). Turning AF/AA up drops to the mid 50s.
  • 3DMark06: Score in the upper 1600s, 1674 when run just now.
  • 3DMark05: No longer installed, scored in the 3880s reliably (with default Lenovo install)
  • SuperPI: 22s for 1M digits, 54s for 2M digits.
  • Idle Temperature : ~49c@CPU, ~51c@GPU, ~31c@HDD
  • Max Temperatures sometimes make it into the upper 70s, especially GPU, I cant recall ever seeing 80s, theres never anywhere on the outside of the case too hot to touch.
My windows system is reinstalled from scratch, but using the Lenovo provided video drivers (Omega installer kept failing), and not especially tweaked.

Scroll to the bottom of this and make the change in the registry and test again.

[update: after Badandy's kind post, I installed the 896256 hotfix that addresses multi-core performance in XP The score jumped!! I got 25 seconds for 1M digits. Havn't tested 3dMark05 yet.]

You da man! After installing the hotfix, the performance feels much snappier. I'm kinda afraid to try the omega driver after hearing lots of problems in other posts.

I've got the latest Omega drivers on my T60p and it works just fine. The only problem I have is when I close the lid then open later, the taskbar is blacked out for a few seconds but comes back without issue.
