external CRT issues

#1 Post by allen » Tue Jan 09, 2007 3:03 am

hi,
just started using my advanced mini dock with my sony trinitron CRT, this model:

http://www.superwarehouse.com/Sony_HMD- ... R/p/120804

i can't get the refresh rate to anything other than 60Hz on it, i downloaded the latest driver i could find from the sony website. i've tried ATI catalyst, the usual xp advanced display properties, and the thinkvantage presentation director, is there something i've missed? i'm using the CRT at 1280 x 1024.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

also, color calibration question, using a spyder2, if i'm calibrating the CRT, will it make a difference if i have the LCD on at the same time? i.e. i will want the CRT calibrated, sometimes just using the CRT, sometimes using dual displays, should i make a different calibration prifle for each setting?

thanks!
allen

First, to eliminate confusion, set the external display as your only and primary monitor. After you confirm the refresh rate on the CRT, then add the internal display back into your configuration. I've had problems before getting the internal LCD and external CRT refresh rates to be different from either other.

- Display Properties -> Advanced -> Monitor, uncheck "Hide modes" and select the screen refresh rate.

If that doesn't work, then open the Catalyst Control Center (tab on the Advanced window) and play with the settings in there. You may have to use the "Force..." button to get what you want.
Apathy is on the rise, but nobody seems to care.

thanks, but i already tried all of that, when i try to use force it lowers my screen resolution, which is no good for me. sometimes in the xp display properties it gives me the option of rates other than 60Hz, sometimes not, regardless of if the hide modes is checked or not

what's going on???
