Should I return T60 w/x1400 and order T60p

Hi. I just joined the forum.
I'm currently waiting on my second TP: a T60 (ordered 1/10, delivery expected 1/15). I ordered a system with an x1400 since I perform more engineering-related activities (matlab, coding, general office) and don't really do any gaming. After reading a lot of the posts here, I'm wondering if I should have configured a T60p. Many seem to think this GPU will extend the usefulness of the T60. Any opinions? Will I be happy with the x1400?
I tried to cancel/change my order, but Lenovo was actually too quick in turning my order around.
Thanks!
P.S. I loved my T42, but I had more problems with it than I expected. The HD died and IBM couldn't seem to ever send me the correct replacement (7200 rpm threw them off). Then the fan died, and very recently my backlight went out (new inverted did not help). Still, I just couldn't bring myself to buy anything else, but I did look closely at an nc6320. Got the office to pick up the T60 for me, and I plan to fix the T42 when I get time (backlight or flextape).
