T60p: Which Driver for ATI V5250

Hi guys

I have a T60p widescreen with me here and as a test I ran 3dmark06 and I got a whopping 768 points which is kind of terrible.
I am pretty sure it is a driver problem so any suggestions which ones I could use?
Even the older v5200 in the old T60p performed better.

Thanks for the help

Do you have anything running in the background like antivirus programs? Try closing every app you can and run again.

I don't have 3dmark06 so I can't tell if your score is that low, but I score around 4000 in 3dmark05. Try 05 out and see how your score compares.

Hi

Thanks I will try 3dmark05 and get back to you.

However I am pretty sure it is the driver. Isn't there an alternate that I can install instead of the opne that comes with the thinkpad?

Thanks

I can't get OmegaDrivers or ATI's Drivers (Mobility Radeon or FireGL) to install on my new t60p.

Same herer, they won't install.

Seems like a INF is missing for the card.
So I suppose the original ATI Mobility won't work either right?

Hi guys

Ok I was finally able to to the testing.
Here are the results:

- 3DMark05: 3434
- 3DMark06: 1542

I also just installed FarCry and it works very fine.

However I think that GFX card is not really meant for gaming.
However it won't hurt if I could set some more options myself.

So anybody have a clue how to change the GFX driver?

BTW, as far as I know CPU and GPU are using the same fan right?
So what produces the most heat the CPU or the GPU cause my idel temp accoridng to tpfancontrol is around 65-70

Thanks

I had a couple minor issues with the Omega drivers so I downloaded the latest Radeon drivers from Lenovo and they work great now.

Hi

Actually I didn't even find drivers for my T60p V5250 on Lenovos site. Could you point me in the right direction?

Also the new Omegas are out. Do they also support the V5250 cause I would really be interested in testing them out?

BTW anybody know an app to read the GPU temp?

Thanks

I had some irritating issues with the Omega drivers on my T60p w/V5250 and they didn't seem to improve performance over the Lenovo drivers.

HI BadAndy

Thanks for the link but it seems my machine is not supported at least according to what it says there:

The following ThinkPad systems with ATI video chipsets are supported:
- ThinkPad R60
- ThinkPad T60, T60p (Machine Type: 20xx, 26xx)(*1)
- ThinkPad Z61m, Z61p

I have a 8741-C2G model so will they install?

Thanks
