Hello,

I want to purchase a 120GB Western Digital HDD (WD1200BEVS) for my ThinkPad T60. I just want to know if the ThinkVantage HDD protection system will have a problem with the drive's ShockGuard technology or DuraStep ramp.

This is the link for the HDD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6822136072

Thanks in advance,

Edwin

Don't think so, that feature integrated in the WD HDD maybe deactived somehow, I usually not use the APS function on my Thinkpad as my laptop almost stays at home

Hmm... Most accident happen at home. The APS function has basically no effect on performance unless the computer moves (movement triggers an interrupt that is caught by the listener that is otherwise not doing anything). As for the OP, good question. I would suspect that the drive has some kind of API that the ThinkPad software may or may not know anything about. In any case, as long as there is not movement nothing should happen.
