microphone

#1 Post by Zweibel » Sat Jan 13, 2007 8:26 am

My microphone input somehow doesn`t seem to be working - at least when I use my headphone. If I speak into the microphone which is lies on the handrest it works. I know the headphones are working. Any ideas?

Your microphone may need a boost.
In Control Panel, choose "Sounds and Audio Devices" and keep going if necessary until you see the "Sounds and Audio Devices Properties" dialog box. There, click the Audio tab (should be the middle tab at the top of the dialog box). In the Sound Recording section, click the Volume button. This pops up the "Recording Control" dialog box with sliders for the microphone and the CD Player. Make sure that the slider for the microphone volume is *not* all the way down and that the checkbox is checked, then click OK in the "Sounds and Audio Devices Properties" dialog box, then try the microphone again. If that doesn't work, click the Advanced button below the microphone slider, and look for the Microphone Boost checkbox. If it is already checked, your microphone is simply incompatible or not working at all. But if Microphone Boost is *not* checked, then check it, click Close, click OK in the "Sounds and Audio Devices Properties" dialog box, then try the microphone again. If that still doesn't work, get another microphone.
