Trying to install fresh XP, but it doesn't see the HD?

Hi there
I just just got my T60 wide, and I'm wanting to install a fresh copy of XP (media center actually) but the install process dies right at the start, complaining that there is no hard drive installed. I've been to the IBM site looking for a install HD driver, but I don't see one.
Has anyone got any ideas for me?

See if you can re-image with Access IBM or with F11. If so, then there will be nothing wrong with your T60 or with your hard drive. If that is the case, check with Microsoft Support. ... JD Hurst

Thanks for the reply. Re-imaging works fine, it's just that the install CDs don't recognize the hard drive as being present. Must be a setup issue I guess

Mike, this is a common issue. You need to press F1 to get into BIOS and change SATA to the compatability mode. Then after you install XP and install the Intel Storage Driver via Thinkvantage, you can then set the BIOS back to the AHCI mode.

I think someone else answered your qeustion, by changing the drive to compatibility mode, but if you locate the Intel SATA drivers and install those on the drive prior to a MS Windows based install, that is the other correct procedure. Of course you have to part and format the drive correctly prior to installing the Intel SATA drivers first. I guess that is why the OEM install of windows is easier, and you can always removed the apps/bloatware you don't want.
