15" T60 keyboard assembly: doubt

I needed to put some RAM in my T60 and so I removed the palmrest and the keyboard as per instructions in the HMM. However, when I was trying to put the keyboard back, I am having some issues.

The HMM says that the keyboard needs to be flush with the top part of the keyboard bezel. When I tried to do this, the keyboard kind of "stands up" slightly with the bottom part of the keyboard "tray" underneath the bezel. It does not lay flat (which I would guess it should - it does so in the X31).

Is this normal? I mean I can attach the palmrest and do all the screws, but I am afraid it will warp the keyboard. Any one had this issue before?

How much are we talking about here? Is it up about 1-3mm with a bit of springy action to it?

yeah, its a bit more than what you specify - imagine the top of keyboard pinned under the bezel (near the LCD screen edge). It definitely does not lay flat, and I guess you can call it springy ... The slant is visible to the eye.

I've had the exact same problem.

My only suggestion is to pry up the bezel on the right side so you can get the keyboard to be level w/ the bezel like it should be. Once you do that, hold the laptop at a 90-degree angle so that gravity holds the keyboard in place and re-insert the one screw in the back that holds down the keyboard. When tightening the keyboard, make sure everything is flush (keyboard and bezel).

I don't know why these keyboards do this, but this is the only solution I have found.

Brent, that worked!

I have had my T60 open for almost a day now fearing that I am going to warp my keyboard. This problem is not there in the 14" model (that I reviewed a while back) - it lays perfectly flat in it.

Anyone contacted Lenovo about this?
