EVDO PRL Updates with built-in mini-PCI Sierra 5720?

#1 Post by dfumento » Wed Jan 17, 2007 11:31 am

I have the EVDO Rev A PCMCIA card and with the PCMCIA cards one updates the PRL (preferred roaming lists) which tells the newest towers installed by re-authenticating the modem through VZ Access manager (you should do this every month or so). This is the same as typing *228 on your cell phone.

By doing a "HELP/About" in the VZ Access Manager you can see what your current PRL is.

I have had the built-in EVDO Rev 0 in this laptop since March but I do not recall it ever doing the re-authenticate to get the latest PRL. Could anyone with the built-in EVDO Rev 0 mini-PCI please tell me the latest PRL to see if they are being updated?

Latest PRL is 50719

Also, are you able to even access VZ Access Manager if you are using the mini-PCI through the Access Connections. I'm on the phone with Verizon Data Tech Support and they do say you must run the VZ Access Manager re-authentication to update the PRL. This might be a "bug." that users of Access Connections with the mini-PCI do not get updated PRLs.

TIA
