Just curious if this is a normal thing that other people might be seeing. On my T60, the right side of the screen when the laptop is first turned on, or after the LCD turned off and sat for a bit, is dim on the right side then slowly warms up bright. Might be like the side 1/4 of the screen. Doesn't seem to be from a bad bulb, as I believe this screen has 2, and the dimspot spans the entire side. Not like right at the bottom or top. After about 15-20 seconds it "warms" up, and goes like normal.

Is this just the LCD matrix warming up, a cathode warming up, or is there an issue with my screen? I do have my brightness set 3 notches down from max, and if I crank it to max the thing goes fully bright about 400% faster. Makes me think the cathodes just warm up at a really slow and steady rate.

I do believe I have noticed that on mine too. When the screen is off for a while and I wiggle mouse or whatever, it takes a few seconds to get to full brightness. Mine is the whole screen though, not just the left or right side. I always thoght it just took a while to warm up or something, that it wasn't instantaneous. Never bothered me though.. Yup.

I have seen this on some LCDs after they are turned on from being off, usually by some sort of UI event with the mouse or keyboard, and it can happen to the whole screen or a small part. Although I have never actually seen anything bad come of it or with those screens at all.

Yeah, same thing here. Takes a few seconds to get to full brightness, but it seems to be evenly spread, not just one side.

I have noticed the same phenomenon on my Dell Inspiron 6000, but on both the right and left peripheries of the 15.4" widescreen LCD. Is your T60 a widescreen model? I wonder if this "problem" is more pronounced on large widescreens.

From my measurements with an XRite monitor calibration puck, I determined that it takes at least 20 minutes for a Flexview screen to warm up to full brightness.

This is probably unrelated to the OP's problem though.

I see this too on my flexview ... around 20-30 minutes before the display becomes evenly lit.

I've never experienced this on my flexview.

I see it on my 15" FV T60p machines and on my PowerBook as well. They appear to balance out fairly quickly, but as as earlier post said they don't reach full "calibrated" brightness for 15-20 minutes depending on ambient temperature.

It warms up quite quickly at first then takes longer and longer to reach full brightness. You might not notice it. I measured with a colorimeter.
