First impressions of 14" T60p

I got my T60p yesterday, and I just wanted share some of my first impressions. Previously, I have a Z60t.

First impressions:

1) I suppose I got lucky with LCD. It's really sharp, there's no graininess as on my Z60t (and even my friend's FlexView), and the brightness is good.

2) What really surprised and disappointed is the screen flex. On all previous Thinkpads, you can apply pressure on the back of the screen without your fingers showing on the screen side. Not so anymore. Applying even a little pressure shows "waves" on the screen.

3) The 7200 rpm hdd is noticably louder than the 5400 rpm on my Z60t

These are things that I noticed right away, if something else comes up, I'll let you guys know.

I don't smell anything yet, but I wouldn't worry too much about it. All electronics are treated with chemicals to prevent them from catching fire, when they're heated. Especially in the beginning that smell might be quite strong, but it goes away in time.

I forgot to mention that the recharger's transformer is as bulky as on my Z60t, which is about 50 % bulkier than the one my mother got with her new T60, recently.

The screen flex makes me think that I probably got a defective unit, but I'm reluctant to take it back, because I got so lucky with the screen otherwise.

Has anyone else experienced screen flex in the recent T60s?

The screen of my T60 (14.1" SXGA+) is as solid as stone.
But I do have some trivial issues with my new T60:

1) I've customised my battery to be charged when below 10%. It seems to work, but sometimes it automatically starts charging when not below 10%. This never happens on my T43.

2) When I tried to restore the whole system to its original factory state, I got some errors about CLI.exe, though it can be ignored.

3) After the system is retored, IE's homepage is always set to MSN, which I hate the most. I have to run regedit to clean the URL.

4) My wireless network conection is always set to be shared with the other network connection, i.e. the so-called "allow other network users to connect through this computer's internet connection" is always enabled for the wireless network connection.

Anyone has the same experiences?

My t60p 14" doesn't flex at all anywhere. Actually the previous 14" thinkpad I had, t40p, was alot worse in that department, although I might be forgetting what it felt like.

i.thinkpad, I didn't have any of the problems you mentioned, maybe trying to factory reset again and not interrupt it at all would help.

can you restore the sys to factory state several times or is limited?
like the recovery disc that you can only use them only once because the micorsoft policy.

creed, you can do that as many times as your hdd can handle, which is more than you'd ever want.

You can restore to Factory State whenever you like. You can use the Product Recovery Disc set as many times as you like (on your own ThinkPad). The only limitation is that you can only create one set of Product Recovery Discs - that is until you Restore to Factory State, then the option is there again.

If you go back to the initial configuration, the home page is MSN. Just don't go back that far -- restore to a configuration that is the way you want it. Access Connection allows you to configure various settings to apply when you connect to a particular wireless profile. Look there. When you edit a profile (Manage button, then select profile), in the Wireless tab there is a button labeled Security, which pops up a dialog box where you can disable ICS.
