Explorer crashes whenever changing screens

Whenever I attach/detach my desktop to/from the docking station onto which I have connected a big ThinkVision Lp200 screen using the DVI port and then change the screen arrangement (using presentation director) I get an alert "Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close...", i.e. this screen re-arranging and switching each and every time crashes my desktop.

I am switching between undocked (built-in LCD only, 1600x1200) and docked (extended desktop with 1600x1200 on both, the internal LCD and an external ThinkVision Lp200, the primary screen being on the external screen).

Are others experiencing this as well? Any work-around or fix?
