T60 Wide Owners - Is your ultrabay 'wobbly' and loose?

#1 Post by ThinkTay » Sun Feb 04, 2007 4:56 am

Mine has 2-3 mm of wiggle room vertically. Yes, that means lots of jiggling. Is this common? its true for both my DVD burner and Battery. It is not such a big deal, but rather worrisome. I am considering sliding some duct tape in, just so it doesnt bounce around so much. It appears the slot for the drive is much larger than the drive itself.

*edited cm into mm

Well I'm pretty sure that you mean millimeters, not centimeters, but yes my T60p widescreen has a lot of clearance and the drive is kind of loose in there. I wouldn't be worried about it coming out though, as the drive release mechanism holds mine in just fine.

Yes, mine is the same way.

What's a little disturbing is that with a CD spinning in the drive, tilting the computer even slightly can produce a nasty noise (which tells me the CD may not be suspended adequately to withstand small movements).

No, I don't make it a point to tilt my computer when a CD is playing, but I couldn't help but notice it because I was just shifting the T60p on my lap.
