SUggestions for getting a second AC adapter?

I'd like to get another AC adapter for my T60, and I see them on Lenovos site for about 60 bucks. It seems like they can be found on eBay for about 30....are the ones on ebay legit? They look the same as my current one from the pictures....

Are there any good places to get power adapters (or even an extended battery!) at a good price online for a Thinkpad?

The big thing is to make sure that they are 90W and possibly make sure they are the correct part number. I know that with the T60, Lenovo upped the voltage and power (16V to 20V and 75W to 90W, respectively) and changed the size of the connector. It seems like there are a lot of power adapters out there and considering that almost all older ThinkPads use the older style adapter/connector, they are going to be much more common and cheap. Granted I haven't really looked for one (I already have two--Advanced Mini Dock comes with one), this is something to watch out for.

Buy.com sells thinkpad accessories at prices that are generally lower then ordering from Lenovo. Also buy.com ships a lot faster.

There are othe online vendors selling thinkpad stuff but I can't recall their names. Do a Google search on the Lenovo part number or try www.mysimon.com or www.nextag.com .

If you want something cheap for a spare, grab one of the 65w models. I have been using my C100's adapter for a few months now on my 15" T60 C2D without any problems. During high charge rates, the computer automatically backs off. It is also lighter and more flexible cord than the 90w adapter I have for my T60.

I just grabbed one from newegg for $50. The ebay ones should be fine though. Check the model number if youre not sure.

I also ordered a 65W for my T60p to use it while I am on the way. It shouldn't be a problem, maybe charging time is higher but I don't mind if I get a smaller and lighter AC adapter.

At home, I have the 90W on my desktop setup

The T Series can use the 65W? I always thought only the X could use those...

I didn't know one can use a 65W adapter with the T60 either. I will probably get one to make my T60 as portable as possible: remove the optical drive, remove the battery, and use a 65W adapter. This one is pretty cheap.

something is amiss. The cord entering the adapter is TWO prong and in that picture it is three prong. I have one of the Lenovo 65watt adapters plugged in a foot from me. I don't know what that picture is taken of, but it is not of the standard Lenovo 65watt adapter. And the plug that fits into an X60 or T60 or Z61T doesn't resemble the one in the picture, either, at least not on the top picture.

I used to have a 65W adapter for my T60 (its not with me anymore). It is a 'travel' adapter - meaning it is light and probably not for regular use. I used it with no problems on my T60 till I had it a couple of weeks back.

Yea, 20077ju. C2D, 128mg X1400, 1gb of ram. Doesn't even get too warm, the laptop knows the adapter limits, and doesn't go over it.

With Intel graphics, the 65W adapter is fine. That is what came with my T60 1953. But with ATI graphics you really need the higher power adapter. Don't skimp. Also buy only from a reputable vendor. Saving $15 on a clone AC adapter is not worth the risk of fire or accidental overvoltage. If a genuine Lenovo adapter causes a problem to your T60, Lenovo probably make it up to your (as long as you were using the recommended power rating). But with a clone you're on your own.

That part is coming up as the 56W one for the older style laptop plugs.

I should get my 65W Adapter on Mon or Tue, I will report if it works on my T60p with the Ati Card. I can't imaging that it doesn't work, because Lenovo probably would have stated this somewhere on their sites.

My X22 for example needed 24 Watt at its maximum, I hope that my T60p isn't burning more then the double of it.

Got my 65W Adapter today and it works on my T60p just fine. I haven't tried loading the battery yet but operating without battery works.

I recently purchased the Lenovo Travel Power Supply. It is 90W and it has plug cables for both AC and DC Cigarrette Lighters. Cables are detachable so you can pick which one you need. Power Brick is larger than the OEM power supply, but I have frequent need to power the laptop while in my truck and it works well for me. It comes with a storage bag to keep the cables in. I just put it back in the bag and toss it under the seat of the truck.

I agree with Reidan, the best route would be to get the AC/DC combo adapter, I have one for my X41 and gives you the ability to run on both AC/DC power.

My T60 can detect that the AC adapter is 65W. If your TP60P detects a 65W AC adapter it might try to take prtotective measures, maybe by reducing speed or turning off battery charging while the computer is on. Or maybe not. In any case, keep an eye on it for a few days and stand ready to pull the plug if it starts smoking

Hopefully the thing is derated so that there will be no problem.

There's nothing to worry about. I went to Lenovo.com and looked up "Battery and power" products for ms's T60p (2613-HQU), and this 65W adapter was listed as being compatible.

What are the risks of using a charger for the T43 is only 12v, 3.0A ?

First of all the voltage is lower, and the wattage is lower, 12V at 3A is only 36W, it may not even power up the laptop at all, as well I doubt the connector is even the same.

You just spent well over a thousand dollars for a fine piece of machinary, don't cheap out on an AC adaptor!

It's not worth it.

As well, wouldn't one of those DC/AC converter work just as well in the car? Just plug the regular AC adaptor into one that is rated with sufficient wattage.

The T4x series charger will NOT work with the T60/X60/Z6x.
