Battery Problem

#1 Post by bonabest » Sun Feb 11, 2007 4:47 pm

Hi

I just found there's something wrong from the 'battery infomation'.

It showed the 'Design Capacity' of the 9-cell Li-ion Battery is 84.24 Wh, but the 'Full Charge Capacity' is only 80.38 Wh, which is about 4 Wh short.

Does it mean my battery is in bad quality? and would the capacity keep going down? (I have a secondary battery and the 'Design Capacity' & 'Full Charge Capacity' match each other). And could I ask Lenovo replace a new one for me for that reason.

I bought my T60p 6-weeks ago and the Cycle count is only 6.

Thanks~

Not unusual. Your battery will start losing capacity from day one. Relax and just enjoy your laptop. There is nothing wrong with your battery.

Agree with Greg -- but another point is that the full charge capacity is estimated; the battery cannot provide the info directly. If you want to ThinkPad to recalculate the estimate for higher accuracy, you'll need to do a complete discharge cycle (ie turn off low-battery alarms and allow it to run to zero).

Anyway, six cycles in six weeks -- you must not be using the battery very much! I'm up to 754 cycles on my X31 ...

How long does it last now? And what are the numbers? (actual vs designed capacity)
