Verizon WWAN Card for T60 - Can I add it Post Sales?

#1 Post by Alltweed » Wed Feb 14, 2007 11:47 pm

Any benefits to adding the V. WWAN Card during configuration or can I order it from Lenovo and add it later?

It seems that with N wireless their are advantages to ordering upfront.

thx!

If you think you may use it in the future, get it now. The comments I've read suggest that you have to run one or two antenna wires around the monitor bezel to add it later.

Revised Question on adding VZ WWAN Card later

#3 Post by Alltweed » Thu Feb 15, 2007 1:36 pm

let me clarify my question

If I get a Thinkpad that does have the 3rd ant by way of adding the N card, would I be able to add the VZ card later?

I want the N more than the VZ card and cost is an issue right now. i'd rather put the dollar into other components.
$249 ouch - will not sign up for service for 3+ months anyway

The WWAN antenna is a physical protrusion from the right side of the monitor. Systems that don't have this antenna have a cutout for it, but I've never heard of one being added after-the-fact.

See this picture - on the right side you can see the antenna sticking out:

You can always get a Verizon WWAN PC Card, but it's not nearly as convenient.
