Advice on 14" Screen Replacement

I was wondering if anyone has any experience replacing the laptop screen. After a couple months of owning a 14" t60p and having a 15" t43p right next to it, it is becoming rather annoying to look at how crappy the screen really is in comparison.
I was wondering whether all of these screens are interchangeable and if not how can I find out. There was apparently a UXGA 14.1" screen for dell inspiron 4100 (Sharp LQ141U1LH02), would that fit ? Are there any other 14.1" UXGA screens? Basically I'm looking for all the information I can get. Thank you.

I would say that laptop screens are NOT interchangable between models. I believe the types of connectors used for each different laptop manufacturers are proprietary and thus will not fit. Also, 14.1" for one laptop may not be exactly the same size or thickness... I would advise you to check out a site such as ScreenTek to buy such a replacement screen. Still I believe SXGA+ is the best you're going to be able to find for 14.1" models. I would love for someone to prove me wrong, because I would be more than willing to upgrade to 1600x1200 or more... Here and here are a couple of links that show the process for upgrading laptop displays. I hope this helps.

Well, I emailed them (ScreenTek) a week ago, no reply still unfortunately.

I have one of that model of Sharp panel here. Electrically there's no problem so far as I can tell, but sadly it won't fit. It's designed to VESA style A mounting dimensions, but since about 2003, style B has been the recommended dimensions.

The connector location for style A is slightly different from style B (although not enough so that it couldn't be made to work) but more importantly, the screw location relative to the panel thickness is also different. The LQ141U1LH02 is thicker than the panels used in the T40 and T60, and I think would interfere with installing the screen bezel over it.

Physically it would fit in a T30 though - I believe those used style A panels.

The thickness was also one of my concerns. Thanks for explaining that luns. I guess there is no good solution just yet then.
