Few days old thinkpad, apparently disabled some processes from startup through msconfig and now when I press the blue Thinkvantage button, it does nothing. Also the green colored volume indicator has disappeared and does not appear when I change volume controllers.

Any help would be deeply appreciated.

Msconfig

Msconfig - startup, make sure TPHKMGR is checked. This would affect Fn+F keys, don't know if it would affect ThinkVantage button.

Actually, this is probably a BIOS related function. You could boot into BIOS (Press F1 during first splash screen) and select "Factory Default" settings. and exit.
