hey guys, first time here:).
My t60 batteries wont charge even if i leave the ac adapter in all night, if anything, i lose 1% charge by the morning. I have 2 batteries that wont work, and my battery is at 0% and still wont charge. If i leave the AC adapter in, then i can go on my laptop, which means that the ac adapter still provides energy. Any help will be welcome. Sorry for my first post asking for help, thanx guys:)

How do you know it's not charging? Could it be that the Battery Maximiser program is showing the percentage incorrectly? Have you tried turning on the laptop without the AC adapter? If it's really not charging and you still have warranty, give Lenovo a call and they will replace the battery free of charge.

Does your battery meter recognize the battery being charged when the adapter is in?

Maybe, the charger board within the laptop has gone bad if two batteries are not getting charged.

The charger cannot be bad if you're able to run your machine solely through it.

EDIT: The circuit on the charger board is definitely short circuit.

The OP's statement that "I have 2 batteries that wont work" somehow sounds to me like s/he has more than 2 batteries and 2 of them don't work.

kk, here i go, i have only two batteries, and none of them will charge, i can run the laptop on the ac adapter, but cannot on the batteries. NO MATTER WHAT I CANNOT RUN MY LAPTOP ON THE BATTERIES WITHOUT THE AC ADAPTER..my battery meter recognizes my battery and my adapter, the battery meter cannot be wrong because when i take out the ac adapter the laptop shutsdown.


When i go into the battery manager under the battery tab, it shows the status of the battery as having no activity. So it basically shows that the battery is in, the adapter is in, but then it says that there is no activity for the battery!!!

i have also tried the battery gauge reset, since my battery was already at 0%, it went straight to charging, and about a minute later it said it was done the battery gauge reset.

My assumption is based on the fact that it would be a rare case for someone who has two batteries and both of them are not charging.

Technically, the circuit within the charger board of the laptop is unable to provide power to the batteries, since the wires are cut off from one side making the power cord to provide energy just to the machine and not to the batteries (short circuit in general, otherwise open circuit in engineering).

This is just my opinion the original problem could be different.

Are these new batteries? Have they ever taken a charge?

Hello there. If your battery cannot hold a single charge and since that thinkpad is a T60, you can get the service centre engineers to check on your thinkpad or battery. Your T60 have 3 years warranty.

BTW: Don\'t bump your posts so frequently. Wait for 24 hours has lapsed then you bump your thread up again.

If these are brand new IBM/Lenovo branded batteries, then the charging circuit on your motherboard is likely faulty. If these are aftermarket (generic) batteries, then your batteries might be the problem. My 2 cents...

When stating the above, I take it that your batteries will not charge even with the laptop turned off. Is this correct?

Yes! Call Lenovo support and have your t60 repaired.

corect, and these are lenovo batteries.

Well then, I believe the consensus is that your motherboard is faulty and your T60 needs to be sent in for repair.

FYI, a bad battery can burn up or damage the charging circuitry in a laptop. I saw this first hand on a ThinkPad 600E. Maybe you should send in your batteries for testing as well. You wouldn't want to damage your T60 with a bad battery as soon as it is returned.

tave, as you can see from the responses you've gotten, the best we can do is speculate whether it's the batteries or the motherboard being the culprit, but we can't solve the problem for you. You need to call Lenovo. If you have warranty for this laptop, they will fix it for free.
