"vista support" in latest bios version?

the latest 2.xx bios has what is loosely termed as "vista support" but what does that actually do/mean?

i've been reading a thread in another forum (http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=35070) about how the rev 1.xx bios is supposed to be quieter on the fan.

i've yet to try this (may do tonight), but eventually once nhc is sorted out for vista, i will put it back on my t60. am i going to run into any issues using a (supposedly quieter running fan) 1.xx bios rather than the latest 2.xx?
