Apple airport - can't make it work
Hi,
I just got an airport to set up wifi at home. However, the installation programme prompts me to switch to windows administration of networks. Currently I use access connections. I can't seem to find out how to switch? When I go to control panel/network connections, I don't get any options?
What do I do to set up the airport and what do I do to change to windows network administration from access connectsions? I tried deleting the access connections but that left me with no internet at all?!

Per Apple: Airport ExtremeStargate199 wrote:Wait, I thought you could only configure an Airport with a Mac. IS there software that makes it configurable with Windows?
"Also works with 802.11a/b/g.
Most currently shipping Mac systems support the next-generation 802.11n technology in the new AirPort Extreme Base Station.2 And AirPort Extreme is compatible with Macs and PCs using previous-generation 802.11a/b/g wireless technologies."
You load additional software to allow it to work on a Windows PC. No first hand experience but have read about it.

You may have to uninstall the Access Connections Software. I don't know if you can just disable it to allow you to use the "Windows Wireless" software only.Teerex wrote:There's software for windows also. I just can't make it work because i cannot change the administration from access connections to windows. how do I do this?
Thanks Rex
Try reading here on Apple's site: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=108049
"AirPort: Windows XP users must have Wireless Zero Configuration (WZC) installed to administer an AirPort base station"
You might want to address your issue in an Apple forum where you are likely to get more users of this piece of equipment. When you find the solution please post so we are all a bit more knowledgable.
