temperature spike after resuming from standby
When get my T60 out of sleep mode i always check the temps, immediately it reads around 48 degrees, then after a couple of minutes it reads 60+ degrees. The temperatures don't drop back down within normal operating range unless i reboot.
I don't want to do a full system restore, which i think will fix it. Has anyone else ever encountered this type of problem and how did you fix it?

I have the exact same problem. Only, in my case, the temp stabilizes at 48-51 deg sometimes after comming out of standby (The same as after a boot). Other times, the temp rises as yours does. I found that I could just go back into standby and back out-of standby and the temp would return to "normal" (48-51 deg). I.E. It's not necessary to re-boot to return to normal, just go into Standby (again) and back out of Standby. Of course, it shouldn't be necessary to do either.
Edit: There is a hotfix from Microsoft that may help. You should check your HAL.DLL in windows/system32. If the version is less than version 3023, download the hotfix:

Since I installed the Hotfix, My (CPU) Temp(s) stabilize at 48-50 deg. after boot OR after comming out of Standby. Typically, the temp climbs to 52 deg and then the fan comes on and temp drops to 48-50 deg. Also the fan in my T60 (Bios version 1.xx) is very quiet, seems to run at low or med speed only.

The temp shown when comming out of standby is sometimes in error (about 20 deg too high). If I reboot, the temp is corrected. Also sometimes I only have to go into Standby again and out of standby (takes about 15 sec) and the reading drops to normal. For some reason, the reported temp is (sometimes) incorrectly reported when comming out of standby.
