I do this a lot with my current Dell Inspiron 8500.

However, learning that T60p does not have a S-Video, i am not sure if i can connect this to a TV and i am afraid if i would get a good quality TV Picture even if i did.

I would appreciate if someone can help me.

Depends on the TV. My TV (HDTV) has a DVI input... I can simply connect up via DVI.

Note to OP, only if you have a docking station. The T60 does not have a DVI output.

Oops, yes, that's quite correct. I can also run a VGA-DVI converter and go that way.

Huh? If you were going to plug it into the antenna port, you would need an FM modulator, not just a cable.

I have done extensive search through various forums and internet.
You cannot use the cable VGA->S-Video/Composite. All reports I saw say it will not work. From what I understand there are only 2 solutions. Converter and docking station with additional card.

Converter
This is the only portable solution and it seems like this is actually the only cost effective solution which is guaranteed to work (since it doesn't require any drivers). The reviews I found claim quite good quality especially for watching on standard TVs.

Avermedia Quickplay

http://www.amazon.com/AVERMEDIA-PQUICKP ... lectronics

Docking station
IBM has now solution for TV-Out with T60. This is straight from tabook:

ThinkPad Advanced Dock 47 250310U ann 09/20/05
ThinkPad Advanced Dock supports dual-head graphics adapter
ATI X1300LE 256MB Dual Head/TV-out part number 41U5028

Unfortunately it will cost you over $300.

Has anyone actually used the AverMedia Quickplay?
I recently baught it and hook everything up from my laptop to my TV according to the half page (vauge) instructions and did not get video. This stupid little product has no product support.

Can you see your desktop on the TV, but not video?

Well, I finally got it to work. I had to turn on the presentation director.
Stupid me.
