Battery rattle

On my new T60ws the battery is loose. It has quite a bit of up down play in it. Is anybody else having this problem with the 6 cell? I was hoping for a really nice fit and finish with this laptop and this is disappointing. I hope there is a way to fix this.

incredible on your case because i heard a lot of complains about on 9 cell not the 6 cell. and people say that 6 cell fits exact match so i cannot tell you much about it because mine is not a 6 cell.
so mine is 9 cell and of course i feel it loose.

Is it moving like this? :

If so then that's kind of normal with 9 cell version.
For 6 cell counterpart, make sure it's in the locked position.

Yeah, it moves just like that. Just not as pronounced because of the size but the wobble is there. I wonder if a differant battery would fix this. Are there several FRU part #'s for the 6 cell battery? the other thing I notice about the battery is the release switch doesn't seem to be very sturdy.

Yes there are few FRU numbers for the 6 cell battery of T60. Please refer to the following link to find out which one you have:

By the way, mine is made by Panasonic.

I applied 2 layers of duct tape on my 9 cell and the problem was solved immediately

True enough, and, while I mean no one
any offense, I'm always curious why we seem to fixate upon such things so often. Not that it isn't worth observing that battery-x may lock up better than battery-y, but the functional difference between them is nonexistent, and some strategically-placed tape or velcro will quickly address the other concerns.
I'm more familiar with 9-cell rattles than with 6-cells, but a bit of creativity will go a long way, regardless of which battery is giving you fitment trouble.

I had 9 cell that came with my t60 and it rattled

.....traded asspenny straight across for his 6 cell and it rattled a little too. Two strips of duct tape fixed the problem on both. Not a big deal (to me).
