Default Weird Low Pitch Noise When Scrolling Through Menus

I noticed that when I use the vertical scroll bar to scroll up an down my itunes library on my T60 (Core 2 Duo 2ghz, 1GB RAM) I hear a low pitch, very light, sort of noise every time I move the scroll bar. It almost sounds like clicking. Sort of sounds like its coming from the HD, like its loading something. It's not coming from the speakers because when I mute them I still hear the noise. It seems to be the most noticeable in itunes but sometimes I also hear it while scrolling on a webpage. What the heck is this noise? It's annoying me. I've had 2 other laptops and have never heard this before.

Check your sound settings. Watch out for hidden theme sounds in music programs. Certain themes will ahve sounds like that as well.

It could be solved by upgrading system BIOS and embeded controller to the latest version.
I know it works for some old models of Thinkpads (T4X), but not sure on T60.
It's worth giving it a try.

I have the same noise with my T60p, and it has the latest available BIOS and embedded controller version. It's not terribly loud, but it is of a high frequency-almost like a static/buzzing sound.
I have had desktops and a couple of other Thinkpads that have done this before, so it really doesn't bother me.
