T60 WS Fan High Pitch Whining Noise

#1 Post by vinceg84 » Tue Feb 27, 2007 7:50 pm

I've owned my T60 Widescreen for about a week and in my quest to quiet the fan I came across a program called TP FanControl which does a great job of quieting the fan down and only running it as fast as it needs to run. However, when the fan is running at a lower speed I am almost always getting a high pitch squealing sound coming from the fan. It's so annoying that I just would rather have the fan run faster and louder because at least then I don't hear the high pitch noise. Anyone else notice this or know a possible way to fix it? Maybe order a new fan?

I've owned a T60 with the 15" Flexview screen for almost 3 months.

I wonder if I have a fan because I've never heard of any sound made by it. I am not sure whether I am just lucky or it is supposed to be like that.

I'm exactly the other way around vince, as my brand new T60 widescreen is super quiet. My T60 WS is fully loaded, and yet i dont hear the fan running, and when it does turn on its always at a low speed and nearly silent noise.
