#1 Post by atct86 » Wed Feb 28, 2007 3:27 am

My father is an IBM employee, and he is looking to buy me a new thinkpad. Only problem is I do not want Vista Business, Is there any way to get home premium or ultimate?

Lenovo offers XP Home, XP Pro, Vista Home Premium, and Vista Business on their build-to-order units avaiable at lenovo.com

The current February tabook.pdf has mostly Windows XP units listed. But you'll probably see many more Vista units (both Home Premium and Business) when the March tabook.pdf comes out. If you need something sooner or want Ultimate, consider getting a no-OS configuration such as 2623-8YU so you can install Vista yourself and save the cost of an unwanted Windows XP license.

It is a pdf containing the specifications of all of the current thinkpad models. It's link is here:

Their would seem to be a free upgrade path to the vista of your choice if you buy your system with XP PRO between 10/26-03/15.

Details here:

For what reason do you need ultimate?

You can go for home premium and later go for the anytime upgrade of vista to ultimate. Just check the ms site for this topic.
