Lenovo shipped a T60 to me yesterday. The serial numner is on the order status page but when I look it up here...
It says...
- Information for parts lookup was not found...
The part number listed on the order status page is 8743CT, so I put 8743 in the "Type" field on the lookup page. One time I accidentally put in 874
4 and got a hit on a computer in Germany.
I really want to know what kind of display this thing has before I open it. Does it usually take some time before the serial number shows up, or is there some kind of problem here?

That doesn't seem to be a type number. For example mine is 2613-CTO. Yours is shorter.

Interesting. The "Type" field on the parts lookup page will only allow me to enter 4 characters (numbers or letters). The example input on the page is just 4 numbers.

ok. try this:
1 type the first 4 digits of your model.
2 instead of putting the complete serial or something like that, click on "detect my system" then you should get your system info.
when doing so you will be promot to download the active x control and just click install when the security window appears!

Well, I don't actually have the computer yet (

), and I don't want to open it before I know the monitor's manufacturer.

I have a 2613CTO laptop which was shipped yesterday. Today I received the invoiced information. I wanted to see what type of battery I have since I ordered a 9-cell (marketing part number says 39T6651 which I can't find on Lenovo's web site but the recalled battery's marketing part number does not match the one on my invoice) to see if I needed to contact support to get another one.
When I put in 2613 and the serial number on the emailed invoice, I receive the same error as the OP. The edit box only allows 4 characters.
Maybe it takes a few days to get into the system?

A Lenovo rep just told me it will take 5-7 days for the information to show up.
He was totally perplexed as to why I would care who made the display:
"It's a T60, a very high quality machine."

thanks jeff.
I figured it probably took a few days for the system to get updated. I wanted to check to see if my configuration has the bad battery. Hopefully my battery isn't affected with the recall. According to the website, you should remove the battery and not use it. Also it will take up to 4 weeks to receive a replacement. I would assume if the system was shipped the same week they announce a battery recall, it wouldn't have it but who knows...
I did call Lenovo today and expressed the parts lookup did not work. He asked me why I cared and I told him I wanted to know about the battery. The guy told me to not worry about it. "We just announced the battery recall so things are not setup yet. It's a small thing anyway so don't worry about it." ok

I just called tech support in Atlanta about this. The person I spoke to could not find my serial number. He thought it might be because my computer is a CTO model. Is your system CTO or is it a pre-configured model?

My parts list is working now. Battery is good - 92P1132. I have the Samsung LCD but I heard the 14.1's are pretty good and there is no LG one for the 14.1. Hope it gets here soon!

Mine is working too. They shipped the Samsung LCD, so I'm sending it back without even opening it.
