T60 WS. No idea what the deal here is. I got a message that my Ultra Bay Battery could store like 104% of its current charge or something. I did the battery reset overnight, see if that could help.

Design Capacity: 29.16Wh
Full Charge Capacity: 20.6
24 Cycles
Last Reset: 3/1/2007
Manufacture Date: 2006/8/03
First Used: 2007-02

As you can see the battery is less than one month old, and has 24 cycles. Until I did this reset, it was cruising along fine, with near maximum capacity.

I know I have a 1 year warranty on it, but it seems premature to request another. I doubt this should be happening for the first month. Does the battery warranty only work once? Barring any other suggestions, I am going to try another "reset" tonight. If it doesnt recover back some space (or loses more) I will be using the warranty.

The "reset" doesn't really reset the capacity -- what it does is re-measure/recalculate it so that your figures match the actual capacity.

That's bad news. Is 70% after <30 cycles valid reason to use the warranty?

It's a big drop, for sure. As a comparison, mine has 765 cycles and is only down by 35%. What is battery health telling you?

I think doing another reconditioning cycle is worthwhile -- see what it tells you after that.

Can you perform a reset while still using the computer? Or is it better to just let it flow overnight?

You can keep using it. Just make sure you save your work before it gets too low!

There are threads on this forum indicating that the Ultrabay batteries tend to have a short life span. Do a search on ultrabay battery and I am sure you will find some of these threads (tip: click on radio button "Search for all terms").

Yeah, I'm aware Gom. I search frequently, kinda why I have such a low post count.

But I still needed to check this at least for my own sanity.

The battery is down to 68% after another "reset." It seems to be losing about 1% per day, consistently.
