Can't install IIS on my new T60.

#1 Post by condescendent » Fri Mar 02, 2007 4:32 pm

:?

When I tried to install IIS on my new T60, it said lack of a file---"Setup cannot copy the file staxmem.dll" error message but the file is indeed on my hard disk and CD. So, I searched some paper online, and run a esentutl /p %windir%\security\database\secedit.sdb to update/repair security database as someone said in his article. After that, it seems the installation can be finished. However, I can't see IIS icon on the administrative panal, and most important, my MSSQL2005 can't be installed because it stops in searching IIS.

I guess I haven't successfully installed IIS, so I uninstalled and reinstall it again and again. Nothing changes. I am frustrated with my new laptop because it can't run as well as my old one.

Are there some gurus can help me with my dilemma, thanks first.

I read this articles:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/894351

and others.

The article lists two possible causes for the error. The two resolutions each address one of those causes. If you tried resolution #1 and it didn't help, then resolution #2 is worth a try.
